Oregon Media Production Association | Marketing; Advocacy | OPIF Tax Credit Auction

OMPA's core mission includes advocating for production-friendly policies that help make Oregon a destination for filming and a great place to work in the industry. As Communications Manager for OMPA, I engaged my full range of skills to develop campaigns, engage voters/taxpayers, and gain support for our industry at the legislative level. One such program is the tax incentive program, which is funded by an annual tax credit auction. Our members can achieve double wins by both saving money through OPIF tax credits and working in the industry they benefit.

Passionate Advocate

As Communications Manager for OMPA, I engaged my full range of skills to develop campaigns, engage voters/taxpayers, and gain support for our industry at the legislative level. I wrote emails calling our members to action, provided templates to contact their local legislators, created graphics drawing attention to the cause on social media and in our email blasts, and equipped volunteers with scripts and skills to connect directly with our stakeholders. I engaged in meetings with our members, Board of Directors, lobbyist, political strategist, advocacy director, and community partners to strategize these vital communications. I was one part of a very successful advocate for Oregon's creative industries—OMPA.

What is the annual OPIF tax credit auction?

The tax credit auction in Oregon offers a way for taxpayers to support the local film industry by investing their state tax dollars. By participating in the auction, individuals can contribute to the Oregon Production Investment Fund, which helps create more production jobs and boosts spending in the state.

What is OMPA's role in the film incentive program?

A key part of OMPA's mission is advocating for production-friendly policies that help make Oregon a destination for filming and a great place to work in the industry. Watch the video below for a quick look at 35 years of industry victories in under two minutes.

How does the incentive program work from a tax credit perspective?

State taxpayers leverage their tax obligation to direct how their money is spent, while saving money through the incentive program. Owe $500 in taxes? Pay it off, tell the government how you want it spent, and only pay as little as $450 to get it done. In the post below, we give a step-by-step guide to utilizing Oregon's annual tax credit auction to support our local media production industry.
